The ’arabaana was the horse-drawn carriage everyone relied on for daily transport. The most famous coachman was Sheykhan, celebrated for his long and pointed Cossack moustache as well as a ruder attribute which ladies of Violette’s background and standing were either unaware of (unlikely) or forbidden from talking about in public.
